Industrial technological innovation strategic alliances for liquor as well as green mining and new materials were established in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture on July 5, in a bid to solve the technical difficulties in current industrial development, promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in local universities, and accelerate the high-quality economic development in Xiangxi Prefecture.
Xiangxi Prefecture has unique natural conditions and industrial foundation for the development and expansion of liquor, green mining and new material industries. Xiangxi has selenium-rich soil, and favorable conditions for microbial fermentation and liquor making. Unique geographical ecology, scarce cave resources and exquisite brewing techniques make for the rich flavors of Jiugui Liquor.
In the past three years, the liquor industry in Xiangxi Prefecture has achieved a total industrial output value of 13.94 billion yuan.
Xiangxi Prefecture has bountiful mine resources. Manganese ore and lead zinc ore reserves rank second and third in the country respectively. The production capacity of micro spherical aluminum powder ranks first in the industry nationwide, accounting for 20% of global production capacity and 50% of national production capacity. The production capacity of electrolytic manganese reaches 285,000 tons, ranking first in the province and fourth in the country, accounting for about 12% of the national production capacity. The electrolytic zinc production capacity is 475,000 tons, accounting for about 40% of the province’s production capacity. The production capacity of manganese nitride accounts for 80% of the national export volume.
Xiangxi Prefecture is striving to build a “famous liquor production area in the world”, and promote the innovative development of green mining and new material industries to serve the high-quality development of modern industrial systems based on the talent and scientific research advantages of Jishou University.
In 2023, Xiangxi Prefecture had 202 high-tech enterprises and 910 technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises. A technology contract turnover reached 3.5 billion yuan, 60 scientific and technological achievements were registered, and a number of industry hidden champions and specialized and innovative enterprises emerged, achieving a breakthrough of “zero” in national science and technology enterprise incubators.
